| SLADE CHRONICLES: RIFTWALKER is the story of Jacob Slade, a seemingly ordinary man who is plagued by a series of nightmares in which he must fight a super powered madman for the fate of the world! Except, he discovers that they aren't nightmares. They're real. Welcome to the multiverse. Our planet is one out of thousands of Earths, each distinctive and layered upon each other just out of our range of perception. The only thing connecting our worlds is The Chain, an invisible energy that links us to the other Earths’ counterparts. What each of the counterparts does affects us. That dream you had last night where you were falling and awoke in bed? Sadly, it really happened elsewhere. The dream was the final release of life-energy from the one of you that fell, riding The Chain to each of you that remain. There is, however, one individual unique in all the multiverse. He is called The Nexus, and he has no counterparts on other worlds. Instead, all of our energy ties off to him. He is a sort of lynchpin, keeping the order of the multiverse, albeit unknowingly. Unfortunately, someone has discovered The Nexus and is trying to use him as a weapon. Now enter The Shadowcorps, a covert agency charged with the protection of all of our worlds. They have outposts on each parallel Earth and answer to no one but themselves. Few people know that the multiverse exists, outside of The Shadowcorps agents themselves and a handful of people deemed as mentally unstable conspiracy theorists. The Shadowcorps almost exclusively recruit fans of sci-fi, fantasy, gaming and comics into their ranks, as these individuals can suspend disbelief enough to process the insanity of what they encounter daily in the agency. Once again The Shadowcorps have to put the genie back into the bottle. If they fail, it could mean the end of our world. This brings us to their newest recruit, Jacob Slade, and whether he knows it or not, he is the multiverse's last hope. For the fifth time. |
